BBOYING TIP- THE TALK TEST

One problem I know bboys have trouble with is holding their breath while breaking.  This causes you to drain energy faster which will then domino effect into more problems.  I am still unsure what causes this.  My guess is that all the focus is on what they are going to do, that they forget to breathe!

While I was watching the documentary “Spirit of the Marathon”, I was reminded of an exercise they used for running, that I used for dancing.  Its called the talk test, and this 65 year old man used it to stay relaxed and calm during his marathon runs.  Its self explanatory, you talk while you dance, hold a freeze, do a power move, etc.  If it feels too awkward to talk loud, then whisper .  I usually speak out what moves Im doing while doing them.
